Day 35 (Feb 4th) of Project 365.
Danbo looking at his own photo on a 30" Dell Monitor.
I spent ALLLLL day filming a video for a client (like 9am till 10pm) so this shot was a 5 minute pic :) And I actually like it... go figure.
I first stuck the danbo on the edge of my desk, and took a pic with the ambient light, no flash. Thats the pic you see on the computer monitor. Then I loaded it in lightroom, removed any noise, added some more vignetting, then viewed it full screen. Then I took the same Danboard and stuck it in front of the monitor. The little danboard was too dark, so I grabed a couple flashes (580ex II and 430ex II, no particular reason for one of each, I just grab two lights that already had RadioPoppers hooked up to them). I had to use a CTO gel (orange) so my flashes would match the ambient light in the photo on the monitor. I stuck one light about 5' away, and zoomed the flash to 105mm and pointed it directly at the back of the danboard. This was to the camera right. Then I stuck another flash on the ground to camera left, with another CTO gel, and faced it straight up to help fill the light. The reflection at the bottom of the photo is the real reflection from my glass desk. I kept the shutter open for 1/8 second to get the ambient light fill for the monitor, and thats it. Used an EOS 7D with 16-35mm @ f/8.0 ISO 100 1/8 sec. (literally because that was the camera/lens sitting on my desk) Triggered with RadioPopper JrX.
It took longer to write this description and add the pic to flickr groups than it did to take and edit the pic.
